FEC Announces 2025 Youth Tour Representatives
Fayette Electric Cooperative is proud to announce that Avery Neilus, a junior at Round Top-Carmine High School, and Sophia Nance, a senior at Round Top-Carmine High School, were selected to represent the cooperative on an unforgettable journey to Washington, D.C., this June.
Chosen from a talented group of seven applicants in Fayette EC’s Youth Tour contest, Avery and Sophia have earned a spot on the 2025 Government-in-Action Youth Tour. They will join more than 145 Texas students on an exciting trip to the nation’s capital, where they will visit historic landmarks and museums, meet with elected officials, and create lifelong friendships.
Since 1965, Texas electric cooperatives have proudly sponsored Youth Tour, sending deserving high school students on this enriching experience. More than 4,635 Texans have participated in the program, returning home with a deeper appreciation for our nation’s history and a network of peers who share their enthusiasm for leadership and service.
Avery and Sophia’s adventure will begin in Austin, where they will meet fellow Texas delegates and build connections before heading to Washington, D.C. Once there, their itinerary will be packed with memorable experiences, including a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and meetings with congressional representatives.
After 10 days of exploration and learning, Avery and Sophia will return home with new perspectives, meaningful experiences, and a greater understanding of our country’s government. Though the trip is brief, the impact will last a lifetime.
