Fayetteville News: Flags, Guns, Bluegrass & More
Feel free to bring your retired flags to the annual Flag Retirement and Breakfast at the American Legion Shelby Post 602 this Saturday, June 11. Or just join in the festivities. The post is located at 4019 FM 1457 in Fayetteville. Breakfast is served from 8 to 10 a.m.
The flag retirement ceremony follows at 10:15 a.m. Freewill donations are gratefully appreciated.
Dean’s List
Emily Polasek of Willow Springs made the Dean’s List at Texas State University as a Communication Design Major. She is a 2017 Fayetteville High School graduate and a graduate of Blinn College.
Gun Drawing
You can purchase raffle tickets for the Lions Club gun raffle right up until Sept. 22 for $20 each. The drawing will be held that day. Profits from the raffle are being shared with the Fayetteville Courthouse for repairs and with FISD for scholarships. The tickets can be purchased at Orsak’s and Fayetteville Bank.
Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the parking lot of the Waldeck Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. It’s drive-thru distribution and will follow all CDC guidelines.
News Briefs
The Mississippi Kites, a bird species, were spotted around town recently.
Fayetteville’s new park now has gained 12 large quarry stones. The stones were donated by the Schilling family.
Picking Park
A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming in the town square.
