Fair Volunteer of the Year

Fayetteville’s Terri McPherson, left, was introduced to the crowd downtown prior to the parade as this year’s Fair Volunteer of the Year by Lee Fritsch, right. McPherson is the longtime owner of Orsak’s Cafe in Fayetteville, but also has a long history of volunteering with the fair, particularly in the ticket booth.
The Schulenburg Young Farmers held their 58th annual Hay Show on Wednesday,Aug. 27 and Thursday,Aug. 28 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging took place Wednesday at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay show sale was held Thursday night. Hay produced in Fayette County in the spring and summer of 2025 was eligible.
Dennis Brower won grand champion and Mark Stang won reserve champion.
All the top winners are shown here with buyers and sale prices.
The Grand Champion Winner also received a 1,000 pounds of fertilizer donated by Farmers Co-op, Schulenburg, and 10 bags of jumbo ryegrass, and 1 bag of safeguard wormer cubes donated by BWI, Schulenburg.
The Reserve Champion Winner received 1,000 lb. of fertilizer donated by Bumper Crop Texas. They will also receive five 50 lb. bags of jumbo ryegrass donated by BWI Schulenburg.
Each 1st Place Class winner received a 200 lb. Sweetlix 20% protein tub with Clarify donated by BWI Schulenburg.
Fayette County Fair President Michael Zuhn, left, was announced to the crowd as the 2025 Parade Marshall by Lee Fritsch, right. Zuhn has served years as fair president and has a long history of volunteering on the fair board prior to his elevation as president.
