Fayette County Deputies Respond to Gunshot Victim

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on early Friday morning April 18, around 1:48 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a victim with a gunshot wound to the face at a trailer park on W. State Hwy. 71.

Fayette County Sheriff Deputies Jason Fowler and Jose Mosqueda along with EMS Medic 1 and EMS Medic 2 responded to the scene. Upon arrival Deputies located a 19-year-old male suffering with a single gunshot wound to the jaw area.

EMS Medic Unit 1 arrived on scene and transported the male subject to South Austin Hospital. Two subjects in the trailer advised they were asleep and another female said she was washing dishes when they all heard the gunshot.

After the Investigation it was determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The 19-year-old male was identified as Xander Lee Richard of West Point.
