Fayette County Deputies Make Numerous Arrests
On Monday March 7, at approximately 7:11 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher and Deputy Orlando Buitron were dispatched to an address near La Grange in reference to a disturbance. Deputies arrived and were informed there was a subject who was in the house that was criminally trespassed from the residence and was not supposed to be there.
The subject was found hiding in a bedroom and attempted to barricade himself in the room. Deputies were able to make entry into the room and after a brief struggle, the subject was placed into custody.
Joshua Mitchell, 39 of La Grange, was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass and Resisting Arrest Search or Transport.
At approximately 9:32 p.m. Deputy Jared Michalec stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on US Hwy. 77 just north of Schulenburg. Michalec located approximately 2.3 grams of methamphetamine, which was concealed inside of the driver’s sock. Arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance was Kernard Bryant, 39, of La Grange.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. Deputy Buitron and Sgt. Meagher observed a vehicle at the Pilot travel stop in Schulenburg, which was parked in a parking spot designated for people that are handicapped, or disabled. The vehicle did not display a handicapped license plate or hanging placard as required.
Contact was made with the passenger who was waiting for his friend who was inside the store. While speaking with the passenger, Deputies detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver then exited the store where Deputies were waiting.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and Deputies located approximately 2.3 ounces of marijuana and a loaded handgun. Both the driver and the passenger provided false names to Deputies. Through further investigation, Deputies were able to correctly identify both occupants using documents located in the vehicle. Both subjects were found to have felony warrants.
The driver, identified as Davieon Britton, 21, of Houston, was wanted out of Harris County for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Member. The passenger, identified as Darius McClelland, 20, of Houston, was wanted for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Both subjects were arrested on the warrants and are facing several new charges including Possession of Marijuana Unlawful Carry of a Weapon and Fail to Identify Fugitive from justice.
Just past midnight at approximately 12:11 a.m. Deputy Michalec checked on a stranded motorist on Rabbs Prairie Rd. near US 77. The passenger of the vehicle was found to have an active felony warrant out of Bastrop County for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The female, identified as Jordan Mays, 26, of Giddings, was placed into custody and transported to the jail.
