Fayette Co. Record Wins Seven State Journalism Awards

The Fayette County Record won several statewide journalism awards at the Texas Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.

The awards were announced June 22 in College Station.

The awards were for work done during the 2023 calendar year and judging was done by members of the Georgia Press Association.

Competing in the largest division among non-daily newspapers The Record won:

• First Place in Advertising Design for work done by John Castaneda.

• First Place in Page Design for work done by John Castaneda, Jeff Wick and Regina Keilers.

• First Place in Public Notice Reporting for work done by Andy Behlen and John Castaneda.

• Second Place in Column Writing for work done by Jeff Wick.

• Second Place in Special Sections for the 2023 Wedding Guide.

• Third Place in News Writing for work done by Andy Behlen 

• Fourth Place in Sports Photography for work done by Stephanie Steinhauser
