Fayette Co. Fair Headliners Announced
The Fayette County Fair Association is excited to announce the entertainment for the upcoming 2022 fair.
Saturday night, Sept. 3 - Austin Meade opening for Ian Munsick.
Sunday night, Sept. 4 - Co-Headliners Gene Watson and McBride & The Ride.
Show times will be coming soon. Bier Garten entertainment will be posted at a later date.
Here’s some information about each artist:
Ina Munsick
Breathing fresh Rocky Mountain air into the Nashville music scene, Ian Munsick is pioneering a new brand of country. The Wyoming-born singer / songwriter’s upbringing was a mix of working the ranch and working crowds. In 2017 he released a self-titled EP, winning iHeartRadio’s Rocky Mountain Song of the Year for the rootsy “Horses Are Faster” and becoming the only artist who simultaneously qualified two tracks as finalists in the NSAI/ CMT songwriting competition. Since then, Munsick has signed a major label record deal with Warner Music Nashville, earned more than 100 million global streams and been named one of Spotify’s inaugural Hot Country Artists to Watch. Munsick hit the road in the fall alongside labelmate Cody Johnson and his own sold-out, headlining dates. He wrapped the year with his Grand Ole Opry debut and is starting 2022 strong as a MusicRow Next Big Thing artist.
Austin Meade
It was his brief stint as a worship leader at his father’s church in Brenham, Texas playing music to the congregation that put him on the path to music, and it was the countless rock concerts his father took him to while growing up that cultivated his ambition to be a music artist. Now the frontman of his own band slinging guitar licks with expert precision, his music rolled out with two releases in 2014, his first EP “Long Ways To Go” followed by his first full-length album “Chief Of The Sinners.” His next EP “Heartbreak Coming” came in 2016 with a couple of singles to announce his commencement on the Texas Music Chart, followed by his second full-length album “Waves” in 2019.
McBride and the Ride
McBride & The Ride, recorded four albums for MCA, racking up several top five singles over the next few years, including “Sacred Ground” a #1 Single in 1992. McBride also received two million airplay awards for his writing credits for “Just One Night” and “Going Out of my Mind.” McBride & The Ride received CMA and ACM Nominations for Vocal Group of the Year before eventually disbanding in 1995.
Gene Watson
Gene Watson has 34 studio albums, scored over 72 charted songs, including 23 Top Tens and 6 #1 hits over his Sixty-year career. Watson’s first single, the self-penned, “If It’s That Easy” was released on Sun Valley Records in 1962. It is safe to say that most knowledgeable country fans would point to Gene Watson as one of country music’s best ballad singers in the same league as country icons George Jones, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and others who are the standard bearers for honest, traditional country music.
He is a Grand Ole Opry inductee.
In the mid 70s, while on Capitol Records, he enjoyed success with a string of national hits, “Love In The Hot Afternoon,” “Where Love Begins,” “Paper Rosie,” “Farewell Party,” “Should I Come Home (Or Should I Go Crazy),” and “Nothing Sure Looked Good On You.” Before signing with MCA in the 80s, Gene recorded “Any Way You Want Me,” from the soundtrack of the Clint Eastwood movie “Any Which Way You Can.” Watson recorded “Fourteen Carat Mind” which hit #1 in 1982. A parade of Top Ten hits followed during the early ’80s, including “Speak Softly (You’re Talking To My Heart)” and “You’re Out Doing What I’m Here Doing Without,” “Sometimes I Get Lucky,” “Drinkin’ My Way Back Home,” “Forever Again” and “Little By Little.”
