For many bakers, their lives go unnoticed behind the scenes in the early morning hours, but for baker Larry Faldyn, his name and Lukas Bakery go together like pigs in a blanket. After 53 years, he has decided to hang up his apron and finally retire. He’s sold the iconic bakery and spent the last six months training his replacements. As we announced in Tuesday’s newspaper Larry’s inviting folks to stop by the bakery (at 135 N. Main Street) Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. to congratulate him on his retirement. In next Tuesday’s paper we’ll have a special look back at Larry and the Lukas Bakery legacy.
