Emerging Artists Competition Open to Students in Grades 6-12
Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) recognizes the artistic vision and talent of the community’s youth and invites young artists to showcase their creativity in this year’s Emerging Artists Competition. The annual competition motivates and builds confidence in young artists by featuring the best of rural Texas’ artistry and provides an opportunity for teens to display their artwork at the ARTS Ross Gallery.
Students grades 6th through 12th are invited to submit up to two original works of art. All work must be original in concept and design and may not be a copy of another artist’s photographs or artwork. There are six categories of work: Drawing, Painting, Photography, Mixed Media, Three-Dimensional, and “Other” which can include digital and fiber.
Entry into the competition is free. The call for entry will close Friday, July 26 at 4 p.m. Late entries will not be accepted. Other important dates and deadlines, a complete list of competition rules, and entry forms can be found at www. artsforruraltexas.org/emerging- artists. For additional information or questions, email
artists@artsforruraltexas.org, or call (979) 378-2113.

Four prizes will be awarded in each grade level along with a Best in Show. The Emerging Artists Competition is graciously underwritten by Mary Le and Arne Johnson, proud supporters of Arts for Rural Texas.
The exhibition will be available for viewing Aug. 3-31. The ARTS Ross Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
