Ellinger VFD Retires 1970s Fire Truck

Calvin Hlinsky stands with “Ol’ Faithful” as he says goodbye to this fire truck of the Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department. This truck was up for bids and will be sold in the near future. He recalls that this truck was bought at Janssen Brothers in La Grange in 1972/1973 and the apparatus was assembled at Fire Fox in Houston. Calvin wishes the truck finds a good home and announces that he officially retires from the station when the truck leaves. Anyone interested in more history about the station should contact Mr. Hlinsky.

Shared Lutheran Ministry The church office hours will be 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. due to the Highway 159 closure. Updated hours will be announced late summer once the highway is reopened.

St. John in Ellinger will collect the Noisy Offering on Sunday, July 7. Bring your coins (or paper bills) for this offering. This will go towards the Discretionary Fund.

Dancing Under the Stars will be on Saturday, July 20 at the Rutersville Hermann Sons Hall. This event will benefit Lutherhill Ministries and a live and silent auction will be held. There will be music and a meal.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Brethren Church 

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m.

Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m.

Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Ellinger Sewer & Water 

Ellinger Sewer and Water will meet on Monday, July 8 at 7 p.m. at the fire station.

Ellinger C of C 

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will meet on Tuesday, July 9 in the chamber dining hall at 7 p.m. All members and community members are invited to attend.

Christmas in July Bingo will be on Saturday, July 13 at at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall.
