Ellinger Kids Compete in Livestock Judging Contest
On Sunday Rheagan Karisch and family attended a livestock judging contest at the San Antonio Livestock Show. She placed 39 out of 300 plus participants.

The Karisch clan attended a livestock judging event at East Central High School near San Antonio on Saturday Feb. 26. Rheagan ended up eighth overall Junior and Rilan placed third in the Pee Wee division. They also brought home several species awards. Also participating in the judging contest were Brylee Brugger and Hayleigh Pizzatola of Ellinger.

Lenten Services

The Shared Lutheran Ministry Worship and Music Team have set the Lenten calendar. The congregations will gather for worship on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. (no soup suppers). Pastors from the conference will have a pulpit exchange. That means a different local Lutheran pastor will lead worship and bring the message. Additionally, the 6:30 p.m. service will be livestream on Facebook.

Midweek services will rotate among the four churches of the SLM as follows: March 9-Warrenton at 6:30 p.m.; March 16-Rutersville at 6:30 p.m.; March 23-Fayetteville at 6:30 p.m.; March 30-Ellinger at 6:30 p.m.; April 6-Warrenton at 6:30 p.m.; Maundy Thursday-April 14-Rutersville at 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday worship will be as follows: April 15-Ellinger at noon; and Fayetteville at 6:30 p.m.

Easter services will be at all four churches at their regular times.

St. John Lutheran Church

St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger held a Council meeting in February. The minutes and financial reports were presented and approved. Under old business they are still working to repair the Steeple Cross light. An altar railing designed and created by member Bo Smidovec was recently installed. A new church sign was also installed. Covid protocols are still in effect and ushers will bring the offering plates to the Altar. The Easter fundraiser has been moved to Mother’s Day. St. John has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Ellinger Sewer and Water

Members of the Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation have been notified of forthcoming elections for Board of Directors. Members interested in applying for a position should print out an application at http://ellingerswc.myruralwater.com/home or contact Michael Schlabach at (979) 966-9853. Applications should be mailed to Tom Kubena, Independent Election Auditor, C/O ESWC, P.O. 130, Ellinger, TX 78938, or by putting your application in the drop box at the Ellinger City Hall, 101 West Schumacher. The deadline to submit applications is March 9, 2022. Three Board of Director positions will be coming vacant in 2022.

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.

Ellinger C of C

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its next regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center. Plans for the 85th Annual Tomato Festival are in progress. Additionally Bingo has been scheduled for April 9.
