Election Day is Saturday for Cities, Schools

Early voting in the municipal school board and constitutional amendment elections ended this week. Fayette County Elections Administrator Terri Hefner said early voting went smoothly with the exception of one ballot cast in the City of La Grange election.

Hefner said one voter told election officials that his ballot did not have the correct candidates for his ward. Hefner said the voter placed his ballot in the ballot box before alerting election officials to the problem.

“We have no way of knowing if the ballot was right or not,” Hefner said. “No other voters had that problem.”

Hefner said voters should check their ballots before voting and alert poll workers if there is a problem. The City of La Grange underwent redistricting following the 2020 census. The City redrew the ward boundary lines to reflect population changes, which moved some voters into a different wards.

“If you are unsure of your ballot, contact us if you have any questions,” she said.

Election Day is Saturday. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m across the county.
