Driver Hospitalized After Rollover

An 18-wheeler ran off the road and rolled on its side just east of Ellinger on Wednesday, Sept. 25. A truck pulling a box trailer was heading east on SH 71 when it went off the road and into the median. The truck rolled onto the driver’s side. The driver was able to get out of the cab by the time first responders arrived. Fayette County EMS transported the driver to Austin for hospital treatment. Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Bohlmann assisted with traffic control. Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash. Photo by Andy Behlen
