Drive-Thru Fried Chicken Dinner Sunday to Benefit Carmine VFD

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department is having its annual fundraiser on Sunday, July 19 at the Carmine Hall. A fried chicken dinner will be served to-go, drive thru only from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or until sold out. Donations will be accepted as payment for the meal.

Eckermann’s sausage links will be available for $10 each. Raffle tickets will also be available from any fireman or at the drive thru.

Round Top-Carmine ISD The RT-C administrative offices will be will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday from June 29-July 5.

Sympathy Extended 

Sympathy is extended to the family of Lucile Pietsch Lorenz of Cypress, Texas, who passed away on June 18. She was graduate of Round Top-Carmine High School class of 1950.

Casino Night 

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Casino Night on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Carmine Hall beginning at 6 p.m. The theme will be “Stars & Stripes,” celebrating 250 years of America. Something new this year will be slot machines. A chicken-fried steak meal by Gary Goebel will be served beginning at 7 p.m.

A table for eight is $600 and includes eight meals, wine and beverages, starting chips, and promotion at the event. Individual tickets are $75 each. For more information, please contact Courtney at (512) 983-1115 or Marlene at (979) 451-1507.

Rebekah Group at MLLC The Rebekah Group of MLLC met on June 11 with seven members present. They were Joys Baird, Leonita Sanders, Joann Ullrich, Sharon Rhome, Loydine Mays, Nancy Eilers, and Dianna Gerland.

The Bible study was led by Joys with the theme “I Am Worthy”; Session One-I am created in God’s image.

Vice-President Joann Ullrich called the business meetbags ing to order.

The offering meditation was given by Nancy.

A thank-you note was received from the family of Carol Carmean for the memorial which was designated for the MLLC playground fund. Susan Schultz and Mary Lou McElroy sent a card thanking the Women of the ELCA for the donations of food and monetary gifts for AMEN, which were received at the Salad Supper. The donated food weighed 231 pounds.

The party at Bec’s Blessing in Giddings has been rescheduled for Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.

Joys Baird reported that thirty-five persons attended the WELCA Salad Supper on June 3. She also announced that St . John’s United Church of Christ in Burton will have the annual sing-a-long on June 15 at 7 p.m.

The following officers were elected for 2027-2028: Susan Ray, President; Sedalia Ullrich Mission Community; Joys Baird, Mission Growth; and Diana Wunderlich, Mission Action.

June birthday celebrants were Sedalia Ullrich and Joyce Fuchs.

Hostesses were Dianna Gerland and Colette Wunderlich with the help of Loydine Mays.

Recycling Trailers 

The recycling collection trailers at the Carmine Hall are now there in the morning from 7:30 a.m.- noon on Thursdays.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and 2 plastic bottles and jugs. Please keep clean milk cartons separate from the other No. 2 plastics. Also, numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 plastics and plastic are not accepted.

Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans may also be brought. Attendants are available to help unload.

MLLC News 

Senior Citizens meet on Wednesday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Mission & Ministry Building.

AA meets Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost is Sunday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Bonnie Parker will serve as the guest pastor.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the fellowship.

Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10 which comes to $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up. Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork.
