Dogs Find a Porcupine in Muldoon
Stephen Kelly of Muldoon found a surprise when he checked on his dogs last Thursday. They’d been stung by a porcupine.
Kelly pulled four quills out of their hides.
He sent some photos to his veterinarian, who confirmed they were porcupine quills. They measured about an inch to an inch and a half in length.
Local Game Warden Shaun Bayless said porcupines aren’t too common in Fayette County, but they do appear occasionally.
“Most people don’t know this, but they can climb trees,” he said.
Bayless said porcupines often like to eat the bark off of trees to the point of killing them.
