Doggy Door Used in Attempted Burglary
Schulenburg Police arrested three people last Wednesday after one of them broke into a house by crawling through a doggy door.
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said his department received a call around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday reporting the break-in at a vacant home in the 200 block of Schultz Ave. He said the home had security cameras.
“It was called in to us after they were seen on camera by some family members,” Brenek said.
The suspect whom police found inside the home, 42-year-old Ronald Crawford Jr. of Austin, was the grandson of a woman who formerly lived in the home. Brenek said neighbors saw the suspect get inside the home by crawling through a doggy door.
Two other people were with Crawford: Stephanie Nguyen, 28 of Austin, and Dylan Sikes, 28, of Austin. All three were arrested for criminal tresspass. Police found four grams of methamphetamine and an ounce of marijuana on the suspects. Crawford was charged with possession of a controlled substance and Nyguen was charged with possession of marijuana.
Brenek thanked the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for helping at the scene.
“We were lucky the family had security measures in place and we were able to apprehend them,” Brenek said.
