Devon Boehnke Celebrates Birthday
Devon Boehnke celebrated his birthday with his three daughters, Dana Kulak, Beth Field and April Pospisil recently.

Devon Boehnke celebrated his eighty second birthday recently with his daughters Beth Field, April Pospisil and Dana Kulak with a dinner at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia. Devon’s granddaughter Erica Field came in on Saturday from College Station to spend a few days. Her mom, Beth Field, joined them on Sunday for a short stay out in the country. April and husband Kenneth Pospisil drove into Flatonia just for the evening to celebrate with dinner and a birthday cake. It was a fun celebration and the girls got to visit and enjoy an evening partying with their dad.

Ill

There are a number in the area that is not feeling too good with all the weather that has been changing. There are some who are suffering from allergies and sinus issues, while others have contracted COVID. Be sure and take the time to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, and make sure they are OK. It’s a small community and we need to all pull together and help each other out.

Lueders Passes Away

Dr. Harry “Jimmy” Lueders passed away on Feb. 17 in Victoria. Services for Jimmy were held at Grace Funeral Home in Victoria with burial in Pitman Cemetery here in Muldoon. He was born and raised in Muldoon by his parents, Harry and Martha Lueders. He is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Harold Lueders and JW Lueders. Jimmy is survived by his wife of sixty five years, Patsy Trahan Lueders, his two sons, David Allen and wife Brenda and Douglas Arthur and wife Judy Lueders; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sisters Billie Williams and Betty Keener and many nephews and nieces.

Ice

Thursday morning saw ice everywhere, especially windshields, when Muldoon area residents headed out to work. Temperatures fell from the eighties on Tuesday to the thirties on Wednesday and into Thursday. A warming trend is predicted and will be welcomed as the weather continues a rollercoaster ride through February. It was just over a year ago that we all saw lots of cold white snow on the ground, so this little set back is not as bad as it feels right now.

Out and About

Ron and Pam Knotts had a special visit from their younger son Derek. It was the first time they had seen him in person in two years thanks to COVID restrictions. Derek and his family live north of Fort Worth, but due to health concerns for his wife and young son who have medical conditions, have meant they chose to isolate and not see family or friends until just recently. This visit was carefully planned and Derek came in on a Friday evening just in time for the long standing tradition of Friday Pizza Night. Lots of hugs, good pizza, and tons of old stories resulted in a great reunion. On Saturday Derek and Ron spent the morning in Ron’s workshop cutting wood for a project Derek was creating for his son’s third birthday. After lunch and lots more hugs Derek headed home. That third birthday party is next on the agenda for the Knotts family.

Hogs

Hogs are back. They have been destroying pastures along with vehicles. There have been several hit recently on the roadways. This is very dangerous and very costly to those who hit them. Be aware and keep your eyes out for wildlife.
