Deputy Tracks Down Semi For Failure to Stop For School Bus Unloading
On Aug. 28, at 3:59 p.m. Deputy Gonzales received notification from Lt. David Beyer of a semi-truck and trailer disregarding a school bus on FM 609. Deputy Gonzales received a photo of the back of the tractor trailer and was asked to look into the incident as best as he could.
Deputy Gonzales zoomed in and was able to identify the state and license plate of the trailer. Deputy Gonzales was also able to identify the trailer number. Gonzales then researched the company identified as A2B Synchronized Logistics online and was able to find a phone number. After several extensions Deputy Gonzales was able to locate the extension for the over the road (OTR) trucking division. Deputy Gonzales spoke with the OTR Supervisor who coincidentally had the Safety Supervisor in his office.
Deputy Gonzales worked closely with the Safety Supervisor to locate and identify the truck and trailer as well as the video from the tractor truck. Gonzales was given the video from the company and observed the Flatonia ISD School Bus stopped on FM 609 unloading a child with the school buses red lights activated and both stop signs extended.
Deputy Gonzales observed the tractor truck pass the stopped school bus at a speed of 68 mph and slowed down to a speed of 52 mph after passing the school bus. Deputy Gonzales was able to identify the driver and has sent a citation in the mail for disregarding a school bus loading/ unloading children.
