Deputies Make Drug Arrests Over Weekend
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Fayette County Deputies conducted several drug arrests over the weekend.
On Feb. 12, Deputy Jared Michalec stopped the driver of a vehicle traveling on State Hwy. 71 near Hatterman Ln. for speeding. During the investigation of the stop Michalec observed the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in marijuana and prescription pills being located. Arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and a controlled substance was 34-year-old Jacob Spears of Austin.
On Feb. 12, Deputy Michalec stopped another driver of a vehicle on State Hwy. 71 near Zapalac Rd. for an expired registration. During the investigation of the traffic stop a firearm was located in the vehicle and the driver admitted that THC wax was in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in THC wax and gummies being located. Charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying of a weapon was 23-year-old Brodee Browder of Florence. Also charged with possession of a controlled substance was a passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Dylan Alvarado of Austin.
On Feb. 13, Deputy Orlando Buitron stopped a driver of a vehicle on State Hwy. 71 near the Busy B for defective equipment. The investigation during the stop resulted in the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in THC wax, THC oil and marijuana being located in the vehicle. Charged with possession of a controlled substance was 19-year-old Jacob Fitzpatrick of Austin.
