Republican Women The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive, in La Grange. Lunch is available for $20. Guest speaker will be Treniss Evans. Treniss is the founder of Condemned USA. He was a defendant of his own prejudicial prosecution from the Department of Justice following the events of Jan. 6. His organization has been diligently combating the DOJ inside the courts since 2021 and have spoken to roughly 400+ Jan. 6 defendants. Condemned USA has provided necessary financial and investigative aid to countless defendants since the birth of Condemned USA and continues to fight daily for Americans who have had their rights stripped by the Department of Justice. Hunter Education Classroom Course
A Hunter Education Classroom Course will be held Saturday, March 22 at the Texas AgriLife extension Office located at 255 Svoboda Lane, Room 134, in La Grange. This course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages nine years and above. The course covers the important aspects of firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. All materials are provided. The Hunter Education Classroom Course lasts a maximum of six hours of classroom instruction. This time does not include registration, breaks, test administration and certification card distribution. This course is offered across the state year round and taught by certified volunteer instructors. The fee for the certification is $15. Some instructors may apply additional charges for the class, such as range or facility fees. Pre-registration is required. Free Gallery Talk at Texas Quilt Museum
Join Christa Parker and Crystal Battarbee as they share fascinating stories of the International Quilt Festival, and details about the largest quilt festival in the world on Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange. Learn behind the scenes insight, as well as how to volunteer or exhibit at the festival. Includes Q & A and a fun and informative walking tour of the incredible pieces on display at the Texas Quilt Museum. Free admission to the Museum begins at 2 p.m. Seating is limited. Come early to reserve your seat, register for door prizes, and enjoy the museum.
Pilot & Anchor Club Drive Thru Dinner
The Pilot and Anchor Club will host a drive-thru dinner on Sunday, March 23. Plate includes chicken fried chicken breast, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, and roll. Pick up will be at the Randolph Rec Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange (next to Sacred Heart Church and Center). Tickets are $14 each and can be purchased in advance at Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe, on the square in La Grange. CDA No. 1962 Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, March 24 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome.
Waldeck Church Lenten Service On Wednesday, March 26, Lenten Services will be held at Waldeck Lutheran Church. There will be a meal served at 6 p.m. with Worship at 7 p.m. The meal will be catered consisting of pulled pork sandwiches, twice baked potatoes, salad and drinks. If you would like to donate towards the meal or provide a dessert, please contact a council person.
Arthritis and Pain
Think Organic Academy will offer a free class, Arthritis and Pain, at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange, Sunday, March 30, 2-4 p.m. The class will cover natural methods to control arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, pain, acid indigestion, rheumatoid arthritis and more. The class is presented by David E. Will, who has taught continuing education classes on Natural Medicine for 35 years. David is not a doctor and has nothing to sell. This class is for educational and informational purposes only. Learn how others have changed their experience of arthritis and pain while becoming more pain free. Warda Bunch ShowFund BBQ Pork Meal The Warda Bunch Show Fund will have their barbecue pork fundraiser on Saturday, April 5. Barbecue pork butts will be sold by the piece, approximately 2.5-4lbs each, for $12/lb. 16 oz. cups of sauce are available for $3 each. Orders will be taken for the number of pieces you would like (not by the pound). Pick up at the Holy Cross picnic grounds in Warda from 4-6 p.m. Preorders only by calling the Holy Cross church office at (979) 2423333 (leave a message) by Wednesday, March 26. Proceeds go toward continued support of exhibitors at the Lee County Junior Livestock Show.
First Aid & CPR Training Being Offered Texas AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County is hosting a First Aid and CPR training on Saturday, May 3 at the Randolph Recreational Center, 635 E. Pearl, La Grange, in the West Gym. Kim Sodek, BSN, RN, CPST, TDSHS Nurse Consultant will be conducting the workshop and First Aid and CPR certification cards will be provided to participants. The cost of the class is $40 and will be limited to the first 25 paid registrants. The registration deadline is April 28.
