DAR Smith McMillan Chapter Announces Scholarship Recipients

Smith-McMillan Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, will award $3500 in scholarships to students in Fayette County in 2025. The scholarships are awarded using a points system that takes into consideration their academic prowess, leadership roles, and an original essay, as well as their school, community, and church activities.

The winner of the Shirley K. Pyburn Memorial Scholarship, Smith-McMillan Chapter, NSDAR ($1,500) is Cordale A. Knapik from La Grange High School. He plans to attend the University of Arkansas, where he plans to study Civil Engineering. He would like to work for a Fortune 500 company designing and developing innovative structures and buildings. He is the son of Tracy and the late Michael Knapik of La Grange.

Two Smith-McMillan Chapter NSDAR Scholarships ($1,000 each) are also awarded by the chapter. The winners of those scholarships are: Kinsley Dawn Bage from Round Top-Carmine High School who plans to attend Blinn College for one year and then transfer into Texas A&M University where she plans to study Mechanical Engineering. As a mechanical engineer, she hopes to apply her knowledge and give back to the community through working and experimenting with the concepts of lowering the emission of machinery and finding strategies to feasibly incorporate alternative energy into a plethora of locations. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Nicole Bage of Carmine.

Johnathan Scott English from Fayetteville High School who plans to study Accounting at the University of Houston. He plans to practice as a licensed public accountant in the state of Texas. He is the son of Jacki English Krebs and Charles Hinkle of Fayetteville.
