Dan Mueller Talks About Choosing Clint Sternadal to Replace His Father Luke As Pct. 2 Commissioner
To the residents of Fayette County and to those of you who know me and know me well, you are all aware that I have a strong record serving as Justice of the Peace in Precinct 4 of Fayette County. In my 28 years as Justice of the Peace and in my 28 months as your Fayette County Judge every decision I have ever made in regard to public service has been a decision that has benefited the greater good of all of this great county.
As I often say, here in Fayette County, we live in the best county of the best State of the best nation in the world. People across the State are attracted to Fayette County, and why not? We have an ideal geographical location and a low tax rate. We have benefited from great County Judges of the past, like Judge Weber, Judge Janecka, Judge Beck, Judge Lobpries, Judge Petras, and County Sheriffs like the Loesins, Father and son, Sheriff Flournoy, Sheriff Koopmann, Sheriff Vandel and now our present Sheriff Keith Korenek, who is the epitome of good law enforcement. It is not just our location, it is not just our low tax rate, and it is not just of the present and past leaders that make this county great. The greatness of our County is our culture, our roots, our people.
That is what I want to say to you today…no one individual I know represents what is good and grand about Fayette County as Luke Sternadel. As he enters his retirement effective April 30, he will finish nearly 42 years with Fayette County, serving the last 6 ½ years as County Commissioner. He will be retiring as County Commissioner and County Judge Pro-tem. Commissioner Sternadel acquired his success and admiration from the public the old fashioned way ... he earned it. He has been dedicated, smart, hardworking ... I’ve never known him to shirk a task. I wish Commissioner Sternadel the best of luck with his wife Audrey in his retirement.
Today I announce his replacement for Commissioner Precinct 2. I took several applications and met with four candidates. Clint Sternadel was selected based on his education, his experience, his knowledge of this county and his ability to work with people. Clint has managed projects ranging from the construction of a $2.7 million animal shelter, developing subdivision ordinances for the County, to working with developers to ensure new housing projects that align with county rules and regulations. He has served under three County Judges as the Designated Representative and Code Enforcement Officer for Fayette County. I am certain he is the right choice for Precinct 2 Commissioner and am honored to have him sit with me on the Commissioners Court.
