County Commissioner Crushes Copperhead

County Commissioner Crushes Copperheadunty Commissioner Luke Sternadel jokingly reassured the Waldeck Church Picnic attendees.

It was a beautiful day, everyone was having a wonderful time at the Waldeck Church Picnic on Sunday, May 22.

County Commissioner Luke Sternadel was helping out with the raffle drawing by calling out the names that were drawn, blissfully unaware that danger was right around the corner.

Suddenly Sternadel heard his daughter, Amber, frantically calling “Hey! Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad… Step on the copperhead!” A copperhead had made a surprise appearance at the raffle drawing.

“First of all I thought they were playing a prank on me,” Sternadel later commented. But it didn’t take long for Sternadel to step into action by stepping on the copperhead’s head.

“It (the snake) looked pretty aggressive, there were people close to us. Something had to happen quick. Didn’t want anyone to get hurt.” Sternadel added.

Once the danger was eliminated, Sternadel didn’t miss a beat. He made a few jokes and resumed his duties of calling out names for the raffle.

Sternadel wants everyone to remember that it’s snake season. “So everyone please be aware of your surroundings.”
