Correction

The “Women Making History” article published last week Friday erred in reporting that Lucille Strickland was the first women to serve on the Schulenburg ISD board of trustees. While Mrs. Strickland surely did serve the Schulenburg ISD as a trustee, she was not the very first women to serve in that capacity. That honor appears to go to Mrs. Gene (Ruth) Schulz, elected in 1943, as reported in the Schulenburg Sticker, April 9, 1943, issue.
