Consider Going Paperless on Bills in Fayetteville; Spotlight on the Local State House Candidate
For residents who receive a water bill from the City of Fayetteville, there’s an option to go paperless. The water bill will then be sent via email instead of postal mail. Simply email the city from the email address you would like to receive your bill. Include your phone number. Or, call the city office and make the request. You will then receive an emailed bill on or around the first of the month. Email fayettevilletx@cvctx.com or call (979) 378-2559. Fayetteville State Candidate
Fayetteville-area businessman Fred Roberts is running for a State House seat in the March 1 Republican Primary. Roberts, an insurance broker by trade, served 28 years on the Pasadena ISD board of trustees as president, vice president and secretary. The district even named a middle school after him.
“We live in a great area of Texas and it’s not a secret anymore. People are moving to the country from the big city and with that, if not regulated, brings ‘big city’ problems. Fayette County is a very friendly and safe place to live, raise a family and retire. I’d like to keep it that way,” said Roberts.
“One of many issues facing our state is our state education system. According to U.S. News & World Report, Texas is ranked 35th in education in the U.S. (Pre-K through 12). The issue isn’t Texas educators, but the new ideas and requirements imposed on the local school districts from the state level. Yes, we need statewide educational goals, but legislators need to allow different paths to reach those goals. How you approach educating students in Austin may not be suitable for students in La Grange.
“Education is just one of many serious issues our legislators must be concerned with: border security, natural resources, rural energy, rural internet, taxes, state spending, agriculture ... and don’t forget all the social and lifestyle problems being thrown at Texans. When the Texas legislature meets, protecting rural Texas will be my main focus. I’m not focused on introducing new laws. There are thousands of laws on the books already. Over 7000 new legislative ideas were introduced in the last session alone but never got anywhere (be thankful). That said, if new legislation is needed, I’ll be happy to consider introducing it.
“When I’m elected, Fred Roberts and Associates Insurance in Fayetteville will continue operating as it does today. I’ll be in Austin when required by legislative duties. Given today’s technology, I’ll continue to address the needs of my customers by working remotely when necessary.
