Colorado Co. JP Indicted for Oppression

The felony arrest of Lavaca County Justice of the Peace Travis Hill comes on the heels of an indictment against another J.P. in a neighboring county.

Colorado County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Donald Clark was indicted June 23 in his county on three charges: one count of Official Oppression, a Class A Misdemeanor; one count of False Report to Peace Office, a Class B Misdemeanor; and one count of False Report to Induce Emergency Response, a Class B Misdemeanor.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct suspended Clark as a judge on July 2.

According to the first indictments, “on or about February 18, 2026, did then and there unlawfully and intentionally subject Bobby Lee Whisnant, Jr. to arrest that the defendant knew was unlawful, and the defendant was acting under color of his office as a public servant, namely Colorado County Precinct Three Justice of the Peace.”

The other indictments accuses Clark of making false report about Whisnant to a Columbus Police officer and making a false report to induce an emergency response, Both the Clark case in Donald Clark case in Colorado County and the Travis Hill case in Lavaca County were investigated by the Texas Rangers. Both cases are being prosecuted by the State Attorney General Office
