Classic Car Convention in LG This Week
The Lincoln & Continental Owner’s Club (LCOC) will be coming to La Grange for the 1st time to celebrate the 32nd Annual all Texas Regional Spring meet on April 8-10.
A Little History
The national, Lincoln & Continental Owner’s Club (LCOC) was formed in 1953 by former Ford Motor Company employees and enthusiasts in Michigan, to recognize and preserve the historically classic 1940-1948 Continentals. As interest spread, other regions were formed and other models of Lincoln and Continental’s were invited to join. Today there are 22 regional clubs that make up the national organization. In Texas there are three regions. Membership is open to anyone interested in Lincoln & Continental vehicles. Ownership of a Lincoln or Continental is not a requirement. However, membership in the national organization (LCOC) is a prerequisite to joining a local region. National has members in Europe, Japan, South America, along with regional clubs in Norway and the United Kingdom, making (LCOC) a truly international organization.
Additional Event History
34 years ago this April, the three Texas Regions of the Lincoln and Continental Owner’s Club joined for the first time to put on a car show in Salado and have continued to do so ever since. Due to COVID, we missed two years. This year Russell Joseph of La Grange and wife Elise, have graciously agreed to host this year’s LCOC “Meet and Greet,” Friday night hospitality party at his La Grange Motor Company. The La Grange Motor Company building, in the early 1900’s, originally housed the first La Grange Ford dealership which was owned and operated by Russell’s grandfather & great uncle Leo H. Frede & Herbert A. Frede. Later in the 1960’s it became a Ford – Mercury dealership. Russell has repurposed the building to house his personal American car collection.
There will be judging and awards presented to the attendees at an awards ceremony at the Host Hotel: Best Western La Grange Inn and Suites, Saturday evening. The attendees’ cars will be on display around the Court House Square for the public to view on Saturday, April 9 from 10:10 a.m. to noon.
