City, School Elections are Next Wave of Races to Watch Here
This Week Marks First Time to File for These Campaigns
City and school board elections take place on Saturday, May 2. The first day for candidates to file for a place on the ballot is this Wednesday, Jan. 14. The filing period runs through Friday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m.
Listed below are the offices up for election this year, along with the current office holders.
City of La Grange
• City Council Ward 1 Kathy Weishuhn
• City Council Ward 2 Violet Zbranek
• City Council Ward 3 Kim Newton
• City Council Ward 4 Bryan Kerr
City of Schulenburg
• Alderman Place 3 - Roger Moellenberndt
• Alderman Place 4 - Clarence Ahlshlager
• Alderman Place 5 Kathy Kleiber City of Flatonia
The City of Flatonia will hold an at-large election to fill two seats on the City Council. The incumbents are Allen Kocian and Josh Homan. There will also be an election for mayor, currently held by Travis Seale.
City of Fayetteville
• Councilmember Place 1 Allen Jurecka
• Councilmember Place 3 Kathy Griffith
• Councilmember Place 5 Debra Lincke
Town of Round Top
Round Top will hold an election for mayor and two atlarge alderman positions. One of those alderman positions is vacant due to the death of the incumbent, Lynn Conine, earlier this year. The other incumbents are Mayor Judith Vincent and Alderman Lou Ann Phillips.
City of Carmine
• Mayor - Wade Eilers
• Council Position 2 Kevin Woelfel
• Council Position 4 - Susan Bathe City of Ellinger
• City Commissioner Kenneth Stojanik
La Grange ISD
• Place 4 - Gary Drab
• Place 5 - Curt Harbers
Schulenburg ISD
Schulenburg ISD will hold an election for three at-large seats on the school board. The incumbents with seats up for election this year are Jerrod Schramek, Troy Brenek and Hale Hentges.
Flatonia ISD
• Place 4 - Ashley Beeman
• Place 5 - LaVerne Dornak
Round Top-Carmine ISD Round Top-Carmine ISD board of trustee members serve four-year terms with elections taking place in oddnumbered years. There is no election this year.
Fayetteville ISD
