Car Show Saturday in Carmine
The eighth annual Carmine Sweetheart Classic Car Show will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12 on the south side of Hwy 290. It opens at 8 a.m. and the display will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Everyone is cordially invited to come for a fun day and show off your favorite classic(s) or enjoy seeing all of the older vehicles.

Souper Bowl of Caring
Lutheran Youth Organization of Martin Luther Lutheran Church will collect for the Souper Bowl of Caring on Feb. 12 and 13 for the annual fundraiser for local food pantries. Proceeds will be given to A.M.E.N. Food Pantry in La Grange.
Senior Citizen Gaming Party
A senior citizen gaming party will be held Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2-4 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library. The RT-C 4-H Club is partnering with the library to sponsor this yearly event. Win a prize. Refreshments will be served. The location is 206 W Mill St. in Round Top.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine High school girls and boys basketball teams play at Buckholts Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. They play at North Zulch Feb. 11 at 5.
Congratulations to a number of RT-C students who were winners in several competitions recently.
At the State Jr. Beta Club Convention, Gretchen Sacks placed first in Black & White Photography and third in Social Studies; Angie Le Bouef placed second in painting; and Georgia Bockman placed third in woodworking.
Two young ladies were essay contest winners-Avery Nelius with her Soil and Water Conservation essay and Kaegan Wagner in the VFW Patriotic’s Pen essay contest.
RT-C High School Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art winners were: Brianna Steakly-Best of Show; Ilse Salinas-Gold Medal; Janette Weidemann-Gold Medal; and Jordan Stanley-Special Merit. Their art has gone on for competition at Houston.
Houston Area Model United Nations results were as follows: Round Top-Carmine-Best Small School Delegation Award; Jordan Stanley-Andrea Flynn Scholarship, Best Position Paper; Brianna Steakly-Best Delegate Award; and Faith Nance-Best Delegate Award.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family of Don Stevens who passed away on Jan. 22. He is survived by his wife Sue Ellen Butts Stevens, along with children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Feb. 5 at Ezzell. More information is on the Kubena Funeral Home website in Hallettsville. He resided near the Carmine “Y” and was very active in the surrounding area.
Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein
The Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein is sponsoring a drivethru fried chicken meal on Feb. 20 with pick up at the Carmine Hall. Tickets are $15 and are available from any hall member and at Carmine State Bank.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Drill Night will be held Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their Mixer and Awards Night on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m. This year it will be held at Paw Paw’s Firehouse Café on Hwy 237 at Hills Rd. RSVP by text to (979) 451-1507.
Donate to AMEN
Martin Luther Lutheran Church donated 85 pounds of food to the A.M.E.N. Food Pantry in La Grange. It was delivered on Jan. 18 by Brick Peele.

Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Attendants are available to help unload dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
