Capturing a Moment in Time
Fayetteville Community Center Announces Time Capsule Project
The Fayetteville Community Center Group will incorporate a Time Capsule into Phase I of the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater. Items for the Time Capsule, which will be opened in 50 years, are being accepted now from residents and family members of Fayette County.
All are invited to participate in the Closing Ceremony at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, on Fayetteville’s Square as the Time Capsule is sealed. The installation of the Time Capsule into the building will take place at a later date.
Suggested items for the Time Capsule: We encourage all our area friends to include an item or items to be enjoyed in 50 years. Here are some suggestions: • Family Pictures (no larger than 8 x 10) with the name(s) of the people on the back.
• A simple family tree.
• Essential documents (one sheet) that you feel are interesting.
• Pictures of Elected Officials (also proclamations).
• Pictures of First Responders.
• Group School pictures and Student Rolls (Superintendent, educators, staff, and students).
• Civic Group pictures.
• Business Cards or Pictures of Company Personnel.
• Advertisements for your business (no larger than 8 x 10).
• Notes of encouragement to family and local community in the future.
• Pictures of Church Leadership, along with prayers for those in the future to read and view.
Please note: all items donated need to be flat, so no frames, folders or anything heavier than a sheet of paper.
All the items will be sealed in an airtight, waterproof metal box specifically made to be a time capsule.
On Saturday, March 22, it will be an exciting time for us to reminisce about days gone by and to think about how those who come after us might enjoy seeing “life as we knew it.”
