Busy Week Coming Up For Senior Connections

  • Stephanie Shroyer, Program Director with Senior Connections, is pictured here presenting Rita Hays with cookies from the cookie roundup for her bravery for sharing her story for Senior Spotlight in Weimar. Her story was very compelling about how painting and her love of horses brought her through some very difficult times.

Senior Connections, a vibrant gathering place for active seniors in Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia, invites all individuals aged 55 and up to join our free organization at any of our welcoming locations. This week, they are having a variety of engaging activities, delicious meals, and important community updates.

Tuesday, July 15 – Weimar First United Methodist Church

Join us again as our doors open at 9 a.m. where domino enthusiasts can gather and enjoy their morning coffee. We are thrilled to see attendance growing at all our locations. In the morning, TruCare Living will provide blood pressure checks from 10 - 11 a.m.

Today’s home-cooked meal features a Mexican flair with enchilada casserole served alongside Spanish rice and beans. Once again, members are invited to bring desserts, and if you feel inspired to contribute, please let us know.

During our Lunch and Learn program, Officer Josh Jones from the Weimar Police Department will present the new safety initiative, “Are You OK?” Bingo will follow the program, with Sandy Anderson leading the fun.

Wednesday, July 16 – Schulenburg

Back in Schulenburg, we kick off the day with games and camaraderie before serving lunch at 11:15 a.m. We kindly remind members to arrive before 11:15 a.m. to ensure smooth service. Today’s menu features delicious fried fish, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, and hushpuppies from Oakridge Smokehouse.

We will also celebrate July birthdays with a special photograph session at 11 a.m. alongside the birthday cake. Victoria Booth from Shady Oaks Nursing Facility in Moulton will call our bingo games.

Friday, July 18 – Artful Friday

Join us for Artful Friday from 10 a.m. - noon at Senior Connections in Schulenburg, where Jamie Janda continues her art journal projects. This flexible and welcoming class allows you to join any time and explore your creativity while creating heartfelt keepsakes.

You can join us to complete projects or bring something from home to work on.

Pre-registration will be required for upcoming free classes of mosaic, seasonal crafts, acrylic, assemblage art and art journals for the monthly courses starting in August. You don’t need to be a member, and they are open to anyone 55 and up.

A late lunch will be served after the class.
