Busy Schedule At Senior Center Next Week
We are going to have a busy week at Senior Connections. Mark your calendar for these fun events. Our warm, home cooked meal of tuna tetrazzini, mixed vegetables and crisp summer salad coming from Edna’s Café in Flatonia kicks things off on Monday, June 17.
Theresa Stanley Brown with Gardenia E. Jansen Animal Shelter in La Grange will be the Lunch and Learn speaker. Come and learn about the addition they are planning, and maybe consider adopting a new companion. Move it Monday follows the presentation with Julian Godsey including some chair exercises for those less mobile, and line dancing to get your cardio in.
Toss Up Tuesday is always a fun day at the center. This is the time members and guests come to play an assortment of games other than their traditional dominoes. Join for a round of Canasta, Sequence, Bunco or a large selection to other board/card games. It’s a toss up!
The Baking Group will be creating treats to take to Weimar this month. Parents as Teachers and First United Methodist Church will be the lucky recipients. We are excited to be joining the campus on the church grounds starting next month as we bring our home cooked meal-based program to the seniors of Weimar on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Join us in the kitchen on June 18 or you can bring something already prepared from your kitchen. While your treats are baking, join in on a game. A light lunch will be served after all the fun.
On Wednesday, we welcome Kristi Stehling, from Victoria and Crown Hospice to call bingo. Craig Pierson, a local retiree, will drop by to introduce himself to members after lunch of meatloaf and buttered potatoes. Craig has offered his services to members to do light duty home repairs and lawn care. We have a sign-up sheet on our new information table at the center. Put your name and phone number down so he can contact you for assistance. And this Wednesday we will celebrate June Birthdays.
Martha Beckmann will be teaching art class at the center on June 21. Classes are held at Senior Connections for the summer months from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, with a light lunch afterwards. Classes are free.
Bastrop Opera House is the destination for the outing on June 23. We will see the comedy Moon Over Buffalo and then enjoy a meal afterwards.
Join Senior Connections at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. in Wolters Park in Schulenburg.
