Busy January Ahead at Senior Connections
Senior Connections, the vibrant activity center for seniors aged 55 and up, invites everyone to join in the fun as we kick off a series of engaging events this January. With a focus on camaraderie, food, and festivities, our center is the perfect place for active seniors to gather and enjoy life.
On Monday, Jan. 13, the center in Schulenburg will open its doors at 9 a.m. Find your favorite dominoes, cards, or puzzles here, and enjoy a morning filled with laughter and friendly competition, all while sipping on a warm cup of coffee and nibbling on delicious pigs in a blanket.
Make sure to save room for lunch, as we will be serving a delightful Tuscany soup accompanied by garlic bread and a fresh salad. To top it all off, one of our members will bring a scrumptious homemade dessert for everyone to enjoy.
Monday is also our Cookie Round-Up. Members are encouraged to bake over the weekend and bring some of their favorite recipes. These treats will be used to create care packages for the local businesses and individuals who generously support our organization.
The Luncheon Learn program will feature a special presentation by Donna Ellis with Loosen Up Massage in La Grange, who will discuss the numerous benefits of massage therapy. Donna will partner with Stephanie Shroyer in organizing a special afternoon for our members in February a Spa Afternoon. A sign-up sheet available for those interested.
Then Sandy Anderson from True Care Columbus will join us for an afternoon of Bingo, ensuring a festive atmosphere filled with excitement and prizes.
On Tuesday, Jan. 14, we will gather at the Flatonia Methodist Church, starting again at 9 a.m. Enjoy another morning filled with games and delightful treats. The home cooked meal at 11:30 is one of our members’ favorite meals: meatloaf with buttered potatoes, our famous spinach salad, followed by a membercontributed dessert.
This session’s Luncheon Learn program will feature Amanda Castaneda from Flatonia National Bank, who will share vital information on bank fraud and how to protect ourselves from scams. Later, Joshua Lovejoy from Crown Hospice will bring the Bingo game to life at 12:30 p.m. complete with exciting prizes.
On Wednesday Jan. 15, we return to Schulenburg, where doors will open at 9 a.m. Join friends for your favorite games, followed by a hearty meal of hamburger steaks, buttered potatoes, our famous spinach salad, along with a delicious dessert prepared by our members.
The day culminates with Bingo hosted by Chyla and Wellsential Nursing and Rehab in Hallettsville. With prizes galore, including special blackout prizes, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
On Friday, Jan. 17, join for Artful Friday located at 1206 S. Lyons St. in Schulenburg, the campus of Arts for Rural Texas, at 10 a.m. for an enriching two hour art class where we will learn about acrylic painting, collage with Sue Pape, and glazing ceramics with Tory from Arts. We will have a meal following class so you don’t go home hungry.
It promises to be a busy week brimming with fun and creativity.
