Burn Ban Likely on The Horizon Here

Fayette County could end up in a burn ban later this week.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet this Thursday, Aug. 27. One of the items on their agenda is to consider and take action on possibly entering a burn ban.

The last time significant rain to fall anywhere in the County was over a month ago. In addition, temperatures last week soared into the 100s. More extreme heat is expected this week.

The Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KDBI) average for Fayette County was 613 as of last Friday, which is considered severe drought.
