Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn Program Continues February 11

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of nine informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping information for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of programs from experts in the area and across the state. This series is designed with the homeowner in mind; bring your lunch and learn about a variety of topics that help you have a more productive garden, prettier flower beds, or how to better understand your landscape ecosystems.

The topic this month, “Roses,” is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11 and the guest speaker is Master Gardener Elizabeth Castro. It’s very important to give each rose enough space – check the label for the maximum height and width and provide no less than that. Roses vary widely in growth habit, bloom shape, color, and leaf size. Choose the right one for your space. A rose is more likely to develop fungus if it is too crowded, since the foliage cannot dry out quickly after a rain or heavy dew.

Registration takes place 11:50 a.m. - 12:05 p.m. and the program lasts till 12:50 p.m. The Lunch-N-Learn Series are held at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. All Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn programs are free to the public and you are encouraged to bring your own lunch and drink. Light refreshments are available by Master Gardener hospitality hosts.
