Black History Month Event Not Stopped by Bad Weather
The Schulenburg Black History Month Parade in Schulenburg had to be canceled Saturday morning due to bad weather. But that didn’t stop folks from attending the Black History Month Program inside the Schulenburg KC Hall that morning. Pictured above, Mayor Connie Koopmann read a proclamation celebrating the generations of African-Americans who have contributed to the Schulenburg community.
Standing with her are community leaders and celebration organizers (from left) Marsha Caine, Robert Moore, Alderman Greg “Wolf” Thomas, and Dr. Virginia Berry. The celebration included readings, speeches, a drill team performance by the Lady Panthers of College Station, singing, prayers and a barbecue chicken dinner.
