Beryl Slides East, Skirting Fayette

Hurricane Beryl, which slammed parts of the Caribbean and Mexico finally made landfall in Texas Monday morning as a Category One storm. The first bands of the storm brought some light rain to Fayette County Sunday afternoon but by Monday morning significant rainfall was mostly east of La Grange. Parts of northeastern Fayette County did get more substantial rain and wind. The Houston area was hit hard.

The eye of the storm made landfall near Matagorda officially as a Category One Hurricane with 80 mile per hour sustained winds.
