BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of St. James Men’s Club.
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $5/card and covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for freewill donation.
Veterans Day
La Grange High School and La Grange Middle School invites you to celebrate Veteran’s Day Monday, Nov. 11 at the High School Gymnasium beginning at 10:30-11:15 a.m.
AMEN Hours
AMEN will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day and will distribute food on Tuesday, Nov. 12 normal hours.

Retired Teachers Meeting
The Fayette County Texas Retired Teachers Association will meet Monday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at the New Life Methodist Church in La Grange. November is Texas Retired Teachers Foundation month, and the chapter will be raising money to help not only retired teachers in need, but to help current educators with classroom and resource materials. Other action items will include planning and implementing our chapter service projects for 2024-2025, the THRIVE Mentorship program and a supplies drive for the 18 plus Program in La Grange ISD. While the name implies “teachers only” all retired public-school employees are welcome, including those from other districts.
Veterans’s Day Holiday
City of La Grange offices will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day Holiday. The week of Nov. 11-15 is garbage and recycle week. Waste Management will not have a Holiday and will run their normal schedule.
KC & CDA Memorial Service & Mass The annual Memorial Service and Mass for Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Plum. Recitation of the Rosary begins at 6 p.m., Memorial Service and Mass at 6:30 p.m., followed by a supper at the parish hall.
American Legion, Auxiliary No. 102
TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. In observance of Veterans Day, the Sacred Heart Parish high school youth group will be present at 6 p.m. with a brief program to meet and thank Veterans. The youth are providing dessert that evening to go along with the catered meal. Following the meal, the Post and Auxiliary Unit will then continue their regular business meetings. Members are encouraged to attend. New members welcome.
La Grange Senior Citizens to Meet The La Grange Senior Citizens fall meeting and luncheon will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street in La Grange, on Thursday, Nov. 14. Registration will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cash door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10:30 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Dana Platt, Community Engagement Director, for the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS). A chicken fried chicken lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. for $5. Membership fees of $5 for the year will be collected from those not attending the Spring meeting/luncheon held earlier this year in April. Bluebonnet Lions Cheese Balls
The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club is taking pre-orders for their famous Cheeseballs. The Cheeseballs will again be $12. each and will be made Nov. 16 at the New Life Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1215 N. Von Minden. Pickup will be ready on Nov. 16 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the fellowship hall. Ministerial Alliance Thanksgiving Service St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church will host the 2024 Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance Thanksgiving Service on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. Pastor David Thompson will preach, and other area ministers will be taking part. A brisket bar-b-que meal will follow worship. Please bring a dish to share if you can, veggie or dessert, but mostly bring a nice appetite. All are welcome.

The Holy Cross Couple’s Club will host their fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds in Warda. Drive-thru only from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All plates are $15 each and include fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. KC BBQ Turkeys
La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-18 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 19 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 27 between 4 - 6 p.m.
LHS Class of 1978 Reunion
The La Grange High School Class of 1978 is holding a reunion to celebrate its classmates 65th birthdays. Classmates are invited to the LHS 78 tailgate reunion to be held on Nov. 30. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
