T he La Grange High School marching band may not have won the state title Wednesday.

But they may claim the title for most community support. In a remarkable display of civic pride, the streets of La Grange were lined with well-wishers as the band busses (escorted by law enforcement vehicles and fire trucks) made their way through town, past the elementary and around downtown before departing for their state competition at the Alamodome. Many of the elementary students held hand-made signs in support of the band.

Of the 27 Class 4Abands that advanced to state and competed throughout the day, La Grange’s show “Sonoran Sketches” was not among the 10 bands picked to advance to that night’s final. Celina won the 4A state title. Frisco Panther Creek was second.
