Award-Winning Songwriter Marcus Hummon to Perform in Round Top
All are invited to Saint Cecilia’s Round Top in Henkel Square for a special evening of music and story-telling on Saturday evening, May 9 at 5:45 p.m. featuring The Rev. Becca Stevens and her husband Marcus Hummon.
Becca Stevens is a nonprofit leader, entrepreneur, priest, survivor and founder and President of Thistle Farms. Thistle Farms was founded in 1997 with a single home for survivors of trafficking and addiction. Today it is a global movement for women’s freedom and recovery.
Becca is the author of 12 books and has served as chaplain at St. Augustine’s Chapel at Vanderbilt University for 30 years. She has been featured on the Today Show, ABC World News, named a CNN Hero and a White House Champion of Change.
Grammy winner, and twotime Songwriter’s Hall of Fame nominee, Marcus Hummon has enjoyed an extraordinary career as a songwriter, recording artist, composer, playwright and author. His best known hits are Bless the Broken Road (Rascal Flatts), Cowboy Take me Away and Ready to Run (The Chicks), Born to Fly (Sara Evans), One of These Days (Tim McGraw), and Only Love (Winona). In 2005, Bless the Broken Road won the Grammy for Best Country Song.
Starry Nights and Longing Prayers, a Night of Storytelling and Songs with Becca and Marcus, will feature stories of Peggy Sue, Pearl, Sofia and Maryna. Songs will include Cowboy Take Me Away, Rosanna, Born to Fly, Only Love, Amelia’s Missing and Bless the Broken Road.
This event is free and open to the public with all donations and merchandise sales benefiting Thistle Farms Outreach. There is plenty of free parking near Henkel Square. For more information contact
