ArtWalk Announces Lineup for Upcoming Fest
Arts for Rural Texas is excited to announce the lineup of events for this year’s ArtWalk. This annual fine art festival, free and open to the public, will take place on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fayetteville’s historic town square. In addition to fine art, ArtWalk offers live music, artist demonstrations, children’s activities, and short films.
On Saturday, the live music lineup kicks off with Jack Carr on saxophone, followed by the Columbus High School Jazz Band. The afternoon brings performances by SuperDave (David Hollas) and Songbird Phil (Phillip Brummet). On Sunday, Mason Marek and AJ Hoffmann will take the stage, leading up to Joey McGee’s performance to wrap up the weekend.
Along with live music, ArtWalk’s main stage will host a series of artist demonstrations. On Saturday, Michelle Cuevas will show her ceramic process, while Kristin McKeown, Toni Conner, and Steven Harris will share their painting techniques. On Sunday, Michelle Ellis will throw on the potter’s wheel, Anne Gaines will discuss her printmaking methods, Nina Struthers will draw using an electric pen, and Karen Murphy will share her painting process.
Young artists will have plenty of opportunities to get creative at ArtWalk. Students grades 1st – 12th are invited to show off their skills with the event’s first-ever Youth Quick Draw Contest, where they will have a limited time to create a drawing of a surprise subject for a chance to earn prizes. In addition to the contest, the children’s booth will offer a variety of hands-on activities, including paint-by-numbers, make-and-take crafts, and face painting.
Another first for this year’s ArtWalk is a special collaboration with the Round Top Film Festival. On Saturday, a curated selection of short films — including dramas, documentaries, and comedies— will be screened throughout the day at The Grand Fayette Hotel.
ArtWalk promises to be a weekend full of family-friendly fun, with something for attendees of all ages to enjoy. Bring the whole family and join the festivities!
