Arson Suspected in Pair of Burned Cars

Officials Don’t Think Incidents Are Connected

A vehicle that burned near Fayetteville last week could have been the result of arson.

Lt. David Beyer of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating the fire, which happened on CH Harvey Rd. near Fayetteville Thursday afternoon, Sept. 17.

Beyer said investigators with the State Fire were coming to examine evidence. He hoped to have more information about the fire this week.

Weimar Police also investigated a vehicle fire last Thursday for possible arson. A Tesla parked at the Mc-Donald’s Restaurant in Weimar caught fire. A male suspect was seen running away from the fire. Weimar Police apprehended the suspect and he is facing multiple charges. The Weimar Volunteer Fire Department reported the Tesla’s large electric battery got so hot it required 30,000 gallons of water to cool off enough for the tow truck.

Beyer said he did not believe the vehicle fire in Weimar was connected to the one in near Fayetteville.
