Apartment & Distillery Updates Given for Downtown La Grange
A Monday’s City Council meeting Main Street manager, Caleb Parks gave an update on his department’s recent activities. Parks said his office is working with LG Print Co. build two apartment units on the second floor of their building on the Courthouse Square. Parks said the owners plan to offer them as short-term rentals. Parks said a mixed-use development such as this helps to support other downtown businesses such as restaurants and bars.
In addition, Parks said Main Street is working with the new owner of 234 W. Travis St., the old Frank’s Place, to install a new awning and stucco. Parks said Main Street continues to search for new tenants to occupy empty storefronts on Colorado St. and Main St.
Later in the meeting, City Manager Jack Thompson reported that the City’s planning and zoning commission approved the zoning request from La Grange Distilling Company for their gin distillery storefront on Travis St. Thompson said he will present that request to Council for final approval at the July 27 meeting.
