Animal Shelter Update

As of Dec. 6, the total intake for 2024 at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1606: 717 dogs and 889 cats in need. As of Dec. 6, the shelter has 123 animals in care: 64 dogs/59 cats.

For 2024 the shelter continues to average 32 animals incoming each week. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

The shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay/ neuter of family pets. Call (979) 966-0021 for more information. The shelter is in need of paper towels and bleach, Gain, Fabuloso, Purina Kitten Chow and Puppy Chow.
