Animal Shelter Encourages To Spay/Neuter Your Pets

The Fayette County stray animal overpopulation crisis is a community problem that requires a community solution. Spay and neuter is the only solution.

As of Jan. 31 the total intake for at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter for 2025 is 130: 58 dogs and 72 cats in need. As of Jan. 31, there are 81 animals in care: 54 dogs/27 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Every day fosters and volunteers help save these lives. Stop by to learn more about these programs. The shelter cannot continue to do this work without the support of the community.

The shelter offers a discount voucher program to the citizens of Fayette County for the spay or neuter of family pets and has a microchip special for Fayette County pets. A microchip increases the chances of being reunited with your pet by 73%.
