Movie in Fayetteville?
There’s a possibility a Grated movie may be filmed at the school sometime this year.
“As I understand it, the film company is out of Houston. They like the historic look of the red building,” stated Dr. Harvey.
Information is still being obtained and nothing has been finalized.
Justice of the Peace
The progress report over the two years Jamie Moreau has held the position of Justice of the Peace (JP) continues. “The sign outside our office was updated thanks to the Ag students at FISD. The Lions Club and Coffee Club provided a much needed make-over where we hope the community feels welcomed. I truly enjoy this office space every day,” stated Moreau.
“My favorite part of being the JP is the community outreach opportunities. I have so enjoyed presenting to the schools and civic clubs and participating in local parades and celebrations. I was honored to participate in the Black History Month Parade in Schulenburg. And weddings are always a joyous occasion. To date, I have had the privilege of officiating around 20 ceremonies.
“As a Red Door participant, we hope to increase awareness and share support of those suffering from mental illness. A man in crisis called our office and one of the clerks picked up on the finality of some of the statements he was making. Together we were able to connect him to a Veterans hotline where he received suicide prevention support catered to his specific needs.
“He called back a few days later and reported that he had received professional Telehealth support and had ongoing, in-person appointments set up. For the first time in a while he mentioned he had hope for his future. This office is continually looking for mental health resources and partnerships and will put in the time and effort it takes to work with those who need a specific response.”
