600 Backpacks Filled for Back-to-School Event
Lots of volunteers for 3.5 hours Wednesday packing backpacks with school supplies for Tejas Health Care’s 6th Annual Back 2 School Festival - a free community event to help local students kick off the school year prepared and excited.
The event is Saturday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Tejas Health Care – WIC Garden 753 E. Travis St., La Grange (note this is not at the clinic, but rather the administration building). Saturday they will be handing out free backpacks filled with school supplies for students in Pre-K through 8th grade - and the fun doesn’t stop there. There will also be face painting, a bounce house, hot dogs from Feed the Need, Kona Ice sno-cones, and photo ops with alpacas from Texas Party Animals This event is open to the public - organizers say bring your kids, your friends, your neighbors. No registration needed to attend.
Back to School Bash
Then the next day the first annual Back to School Bash will be held Sunday, Aug. 3 from noon - 4 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Enjoy free hair cuts at 11 a.m. for kids. Free food courtesy of Feed the Need and the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter staff will be on site for adoptions.
