La Grange High School grads Austen Diggs and Trey East III both shined for their universities at the 98th annual Texas Relays in Austin over the weekend. Diggs is a sophomore runner for Baylor University and East is a senior for the University of Houston.

The Fayetteville golf team competed at their District Golf Tournament at Giddings Monday March 30. Scores for Fayetteville include: Eva Shaw - 88 Baileigh White - 105 Harper Mau - 110 Kole Schmitt - 85 Tyler Kolenovsky - 90 Heading to Regionals-Qualifying Girls Individuals 1) Eva Shaw 2) Baileigh White 3) Harper Mau - Alternate Qualifying Boys Individuals 3) Kole Schmitt - Alternate.

The La Grange baseball team dropped to 9-8 overall and 1-3 in district with a 10-3 loss at home Tuesday to Giddings. Jonah Ehler and Colt Jobb combined on the pitching effort for the Leps. Ehler and Howard Holmes each had two hits for La Grange. Holmes also had two RBIs.

The situation couldn’t have been more tense. But freshman Hannah Mitchell was calm.

The La Grange High School tennis team competed at the District Tournament Monday and Tuesday in Bellville. As a team La Grange was third overall.

La Grange native Trey Supak was chosen as the opening day starter for the Texas Rangers Triple-A team, the Round Rock Express, last week. Supak pitched the first 2.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out three in what ended up being a 7-4 victory for Round Rock over Sugarland, the Triple-A affiliate for the Houston Astros.

The Schulenburg baseball team improved to 18-3 overall and 8-0 in district with an 11-0 win over Weimar Tuesday. Ian Reeves pitched a complete game one-hitter with five strikeouts and he also homered, had three hits and four RBIs.

After starting district with five straight losses, the La Grange softball team was in desperate need of a victory Tuesday to get them back in the playoff race. With important contributions from just about everybody on the team, the Lady Leps got that much-needed first district victory with a 5-4 win over Giddings in extra innings.

The Fayetteville baseball team won their first two games of the season Tuesday, sweeping Flatonia in a doubleheader 8-2 and 13-1. In the 8-2 win, Jack Schley pitched a complete game four hitter for the Lions, with six strikeouts.

The La Grange baseball team got a crucial victory at Giddings Saturday, beating the Buffaloes 4-2. Tristan Ulrich pitched 6.2 innings of three hit ball before being relieved by Eli Gillum.
