Diamond Round-Up: Leps, Shorthorns Win
The La Grange baseball team got a crucial victory at Giddings Saturday, beating the Buffaloes 4-2.
Tristan Ulrich pitched 6.2 innings of three hit ball before being relieved by Eli Gillum.
Gillum had three hits and drove in two runs.
Dalton Janacek and Jaden Miller both had two hits.
The Leps are now 9-7 overall and 1-2 in district and host Giddings Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Lady Lep Softball
Struggles Continue
The La Grange softball team lost at Giddings Saturday 5-2 to fall to 0-5 in district play.
Iylah King had two of La Grange’s three hits against Giddings pitcher Emeree Townsend, who hurled a complete game. Hannah Mitchell had the other hit for the Lady Leps. Kylin Brawley drove in two runs.
Landry Mutscher drove in three runs for Giddings (which is now 12-11-1 overall and 3-2 in district).
Brooke Ulrich pitched 5.2 innings for the Lady Leps.
La Grange (11-11-1 overall) hosts Giddings Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Shorthorns Win 14th in a Row
The Schulenburg baseball team won its 14th game in a row, bashing Moulton 17-2 Friday.
The Shorthorns are now 17-3 overall.
Pitchers Victor Mandujano and Reid Janda combined to no-hit Moulton in a game that was called after three inning because of the mercy rule.
Ian Reeves homered and drove in three runs. Connor Lichnovsky had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Reid Janda hit a pair of doubles and drove in four runs.
Lady Horns Win
The Schulenburg softball team defeated Moulton Friday 7-6 in eight innings Friday. Aubryn Janda had three hits, including two doubles. Kinley Tillery and Grace Schramek both had two hits. Kerr McBride pitched a complete game for the Lady Horns, who improved to 5-9 overall.
Shiner Sweeps
Flatonia
The Flatonia baseball team lost to Shiner 8-1 Friday. Bryson Morrill had the only hit for the Bulldogs, who fell to 5-8 overall with the loss. Kullen Kutac pitched six innings in that game for Flatonia.
Shiner beat Flatonia in softball Friday 18-4.
