New Scoreboard Goes Up at the Field at Fairgrounds

The historic baseball park, Voelkel-Koether Field at the fairgrounds in La Grange, got a new scoreboard Thursday, thanks to the efforts of Tatonka Tree Service, the City of La Grange and the La Grange Baseball Association. Above, a worker welds a support rail to the scoreboard posts, and to the right is the new scoreboard, ready for action this spring.

LHS Runner-Ups at Weimar Track Meet

The La Grange boys and girls varsity track teams both grabbed runner-up team finishes at the 11-school Weimar meet Thursday. Giddings edged LHS for both team titles. Here’s Fayette County athletes who medaled at the meet:

Smithville Beats La Grange

The La Grange softball team had won 10 of its last 11 ballgames, but Smithville cooled off the Lady Leps a little Tuesday. The Lady Tigers beat La Grange 4-3 to get revenge after the Lady Leps beat Smithville 3-2 just a week ago.

La Grange Track Team Keeps Winning

The La Grange boys and girls track teams both won team titles at the seven-team Columbus Cardinal Relays March 6. The Leps had 224 points, well ahead of second place Columbus, which had 130 points.
